Mrs. Neha Nalin Pawaskar, a blind and differently-abled telephone operator in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Department, has issued an emotional appeal highlighting her prolonged struggle for rightful recognition, promotion, and basic support from the Maharashtra Government despite her extraordinary achievements.

A recipient of the prestigious President’s Award twice—first in 2010 (by President Pratibha Patil) and again in 2021 (by President Ramnath Kovind)—Mrs. Pawaskar has tirelessly served in the Sales Tax Department (now GST) since May 14, 1991. Despite her service and accolades, she has been denied promotions and financial benefits that she rightfully deserves.

In 1992, she became the first blind woman to summit Mount Shitidhar (17,220 ft) and earned a place in the Limca Book of Records (1994). Her mountaineering journcey nearly ended
